Did you know that there are over 7,000 chemicals in tobacco products?

Mississippi Families for Kids in partnership with Black People Against Tobacco (BAT) hosted a training for families and staff to learn more about the dangers of tobacco and ways to combat it. Thanks to this training, we now know why smoking is a public health issue targeting low-income communities of color.

We gathered roughly 20 participants to gain knowledge about how the tobacco industry promotes to consumers of all ages, identify what products contain tobacco-related chemicals, learn the long-term health effects of using these products, and role-play ways to support family members, friends, and coworkers considering quitting.

MFFK plans to host future educational trainings on this topic. If you are interested in learning more or being a part of these sessions, email us at info@mffk.org
