Kinsgiving: Celebrating Kinship Caregivers
In November, Mississippi Families for Kids hosted their first-ever Kinsgiving event, a potluck lunch celebrating the bond between kinship caregivers and the children they raise, at the Jackson Medical Mall Community Room. Over 25 participants came together for an afternoon of food, fellowship, and fun. The event was a huge success, with families connecting over delicious dishes and engaging activities that allowed them to reminisce about their parenting styles and the old sayings they still use with their grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Kinship caregivers provide a crucial support system for children who cannot be raised by their biological parents, and events like Kinsgiving are a wonderful way to recognize and celebrate their hard work and dedication. Mississippi Families for Kids is committed to supporting families in adoption, foster care, and kinship placement.
