November is National Adoption Month

National Adoption Month (Instagram Post (Square)) (2)

We’re celebrating and promoting adoption all month long!

The Children’s Bureau’s National Adoption Month (NAM) campaign seeks to increase national awareness of adoption issues, bring attention to the need for adoptive families for teens in the foster care system, and emphasize the value of youth engagement.

There are over 117,000 children waiting to be adopted in the U.S.

How can you help? Small steps make a difference and everyone has a role in making a difference for adoption!

  1. Spread the word about NAM
  2. Educate yourself on the adoption climate and process in the U.S.
  3. Advocate for adoption resources
  4. If you know of an adoptive parent, child waiting for placement, or social worker, offer support. Be their source of calm and safety. You can also refer them to MFFK for free or at-cost support including licensing, training, counseling, events and support groups, and donations.
  5. Encourage youth waiting for a placement. Help them uncover their strengths and goals, be honest with them, and empower them.
  6. Donate to organizations that provide adoptive services and support to children and family permanency

You can also join us for our adoption month event on November 19th-
